Okpebholo Ray Alleges Plot to Turn FCT into One-Party Territory

A United Kingdom-based political analyst and Publisher of Truth Live News, Deacon Darlington Okpebholo Ray, has raised alarm over what he described as a calculated move to transform the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) into a one-party political enclave.

Speaking as a guest political analyst on Arise TV, Okpebholo Ray alleged that the current political developments in Abuja point to an “arrangement” aimed at consolidating the ruling party’s dominance in the FCT, similar to what he claims is unfolding at the national level under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“Well, if you look at what has been happening in the FCT, there is an arrangement or a plan so to say by the FCT Minister to make the FCT a one-party state or territory as it were,” he said.

He referenced recent political developments in Bwari and AMAC, where candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) reportedly stepped down in favour of candidates from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to him, the development reflects internal disarray within the opposition party.

“It’s really a sorry situation when you look at what is happening in the PDP. You begin to wonder—who are these individuals stepping down for APC candidates? What faction or section of the PDP do they belong to? It becomes easy for them to just switch over,” he noted.

Okpebholo Ray further warned that the build-up to the 2027 general elections could significantly alter Nigeria’s political architecture. He observed that a growing number of governors across the 36 states have aligned with the APC, raising concerns about the competitiveness of the next electoral cycle.

“At the last count, about 31 governors are said to be in the APC, and I hear it’s still counting. By this time, you begin to wonder—will there be any real contest in 2027?” he queried.

However, he acknowledged that governors alone do not determine election outcomes, noting that voters remain the ultimate decision-makers. Still, he maintained that the scale of political realignments across states signals a deeper structural shift.

“I believe strongly that 2027 is going to redefine the political structure and development of Nigeria. Since 2015, what we have seen is like an auto-reverse. The country needs a change,” he asserted.
