The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper and successfully rescued two abducted victims in separate incidents across Kalgo and Dandi Local Government Areas.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, disclosed the development in a statement, highlighting the role of credible intelligence and community collaboration in the swift operation.
One victim, Alhaji Juli Muhammad, 55, was abducted from his residence in Kokani Village, Kalgo LGA, where he was chained before being dragged into the bush. The second victim, 50-year-old Garba Bachal, was kidnapped from Maigwaza Village in Dandi LGA.
“Based on credible intelligence, officers from Kalgo and Kamba divisions, in collaboration with local vigilante group, rescued the victims unharmed and arrested one of the suspects, Umar Usman, from Augie Fadama Area of the State,” SP Usman stated.
He further explained that upon sighting the approaching police team, the suspects fled the scene, enabling the safe rescue of both victims without harm.
Garba Bachal was immediately taken to Maigwaza Hospital for medical attention and is currently recovering.
The police spokesperson assured that manhunt operations continue to apprehend the fleeing accomplices, describing the success as a demonstration of the command’s intelligence-driven, proactive strategy.
“The operation reflects the command’s intelligence-driven, proactive approach, focusing on rapid response, strategic coordination, and protection of lives and property,” SP Usman added.
The rescues shows ongoing efforts by security forces in Kebbi to combat kidnapping, a persistent security challenge in parts of northern Nigeria, through enhanced synergy with local vigilantes and timely intelligence gathering.
