Vigilantes Rescue Kidnapped Victim, Nab Suspect In Edo

Vigilantes have rescued the 12 years old girl kidnapped by suspected Fulani herders at Ayogwiri community in Edo State.

‎The teenager was kidnapped on October 10, while returning from the farm with her mother and other women.

‎It was learnt that the local vigilantes drawn from Ayogwiri and surrounding villages, rescued her unhurt and without payment of ransom.

‎A Fulani man, allegedly a member of a kidnap team, was arrested by the local vigilantes in connection with the kidnapping.

During an interrogation in a viral video, confessed that they were acting on behalf of an indigene from Ayogwiri.

Recall that ‎kidnappers, suspected to be Fulani herders had allegedly attacked some women on their way from the farm and abducted the 12-year-old girl after releasing her mother

‎The ugly incident is said to have occured in the afternoon with two women got injured during the process of abduction and are said to be currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

‎The community swiftly responded to the abduction news, with vigilantes and hunters launching a rescue mission in the bushes.‎

‎The community had after the ugly incident issued a statement through Engr Vincent Ozemoya , the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the umbrella body of the community where he condemned the unfortunate and unacceptable development.‎

‎He said the incident has shattered the peace and accommodating spirit of the community which gave rise to strangers being allowed to live amicably in the community.
