The Labour Party standard bearer in the February 25, 2023, presidential election, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi is to storm Benin City, the Edo State capital, to canvass vote for the Labour Party candidates ahead of the local government election bided for September 2.
The Senator representing Edo South Senatorial district at the National Assembly, Senator Neda Imasuen disclosed this in Benin during an interactive session with journalists .
According to Sen. Imaseun, the proposed Peter Obi visit to Benin is meant to serve as a morale booster, about up the Labour Party campaign, and also help to galvanize support for the party candidates ahead of the September 2 local government poll
He also appealed to the state government and the state election umpire, the EDOSIEC, to strive to create a level playing field for all the parties
Assuring supporters and constituent members of his decision to stick with the LP ideology, on the wings of which he was unanimously elected, Sen. Imaseun vowed never to abandon the Labour Party and the good people of Edo South district midstream irrespective of the outcome of the ruling of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal
He also weighed in on the controversy surrounding who is the authentic national chairman of the Labour Party, Sen. Imasuen stated that as far as he is concerned, Mr. Julius Abure remains the recognized national chairman of the party and warned those challenging his authority to desist because they do not have what it takes to lead a dynamic political party like the LP
In addition, he said that members of the LP national assembly will throw their weight behind any bill if it will adds value to the efforts aimed at making the country better, not minding its sponsor.
