A man known as Moses Olapade has allegedly beaten his wife, Tinuke Olapade, age, 44 to coma for refusing to hand over a television remote control to him.
The incident happened at their residence, No. 9, Odama street in Oke-Aro area of Akure in Ondo State.
According to source, Olopade, who is a truck driver, returned home from a trip on the day of the incident and wanted to watch a programme on the television.
He reportedly asked his wife to hand over the TV remote to him but she refused.
Olopade, out of provocation, beat her until she became unconscious.
The source said that it took the timely intervention of neighbours to have saved the woman, noting that “the children ran out screaming for help” before she was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
“The woman was found lying unconscious by neighbours who rushed her to the hospital.
“The matter was reported to leaders of the community, who called the police and arrested Olapade”, the neighbour narrated.
The Ondo State police command has not confirmed the incident as of the time of filing this report.
