The approval of a Federal University of Environment and Technology in Ogoni 9 by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a welcome development. “But it is not enough atonement for junta’s execution of Ken Saro-Wiwa by the late Gen. Sani Abacha.

Sir Waadah, said It neither atone for the pains, nor heals the wounds inflicted on them for losing Saro-Wiwa and eight other Ogoni sons for fighting for the common good of their people.
On February 4, 2025 Vanguard News reports that the MOSOP president also noted that the exoneration of the Ogoni 9 from perceived wrongdoing informed their execution of tops for resuming oil and gas operations in Ogoniland.
According to source, Korka-Waadah, a political management expert, told the federal government that the whole world knows that activist Saro-Wiwa was too refined and peaceful to be killed on trumped up criminal charges.
Therefore, “If government is sincere on gaining Ogoni confidence to resume oil and gas production, the first term of engagement is to exonerate and grant posthumous pardon to the Ogoni 9,” Waadah said.
“The second expectation is for federal government to show commitment to meeting the Ogoni Bill of Rights. Otherwise, the new University won’t make Ogonis yield to resumption of oil production in their land.”
