MTN Nigeria has increased its voice call tariff, raising the call rate on its pulse bundle to N13.8 per minute from N7.8 per minute.

Truth Live News reports that this represents a significant 76.92% increase.

The change, Truth Live News gathered, is part of the telecom operator’s upward review of prices, following the Nigerian Communications Commission’s (NCC) approval of a 50% tariff hike in the industry.

According to reports, a 62-second voice call now costs N14.62 kobo.

The NCC’s approval of the tariff hike has been met with resistance, with the Nigeria Labour Congress directing its members and Nigerians to boycott mobile network operators (MNOs) from February 13 to the end of the month.
