NDLEA: Operation Tsaro Arrests 34, Others Receive Counseling Over Illicit Drugs

The ‘operation Tsaro’ of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) necessitated by the need to combat drug abuse in Nigeria has reportedly arrested 34 suspected drug dealers as well as the users.

Kabir Tsakuwa, the FCT Commander of the Agency, on Thursday in Abuja said “Operation Tsaro” initiated on May 8, to apprehend drug dealers and shut down drug centres in the FCT had successfully seized variety of illicit substances.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that substances seized by the Agency include Cannabis Sativa, Methamphetamine, Tramadol, Codeine, Rohypnol, and other psychotropic drugs.

It went on to list hotspots raided by the operative to include Torabora, Dei-dei, Wuse Zone 4, Wuse Zone 3, Banex, Garki Village, Area 1, Gwarimpa (Village, 3rd Avenue), Abattoir in Karu, Gwagwalada, Kabusa, and Kuchigoro IDP Camp.

Tsakuwa, Truth Live News gathered that he said “some of the arrested individuals have been charged to court, while the drug users are undergoing counseling sessions.”

He was also reported to have said that the operation would continue until the Agency effectively eradicate hard drugs from circulation and reduce criminal activities in the FCT.
