The newly sworn in Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru on Tuesday, ordered the freezing of all the State account domiciled in various banks.
This was disclosed in a statement by his chief press secretary, Monday Uzor and made available to newsmen in Abakaliki.
Uzor said the governor ordered that the freezing of the said accounts by the banks, is with immediate effect, from today, Tuesday 30th, May 2023.
He also said that the governor has also directed the bank managers operating the accounts to immediately comply by ensuring that no payment is made from any government accounts till further notice.
Part of the statement reads: “The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has directed for the immediate freezing of all State government accounts domiciled in various banks with effect from Tuesday, 30th May, 2023.
“Consequently, the Governor directs the Bank managers of the all the banks that operate government accounts to immediately comply by ensuring that no payment is made from any government accounts till further notice.”
