ECOWAS Opens 2026 Recruitment Exercise, Invites Applications from Member States

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has commenced its 2026 recruitment exercise, throwing open applications for dozens of positions across its key institutions to qualified citizens of member states, including Nigeria.

The recruitment drive began on April 1, 2026, and applications will remain open until April 30, 2026. The exercise covers 36 positions across five institutions the ECOWAS Commission, Parliament, Community Court of Justice, the West African Health Organization (WAHO), and the ECOWAS Gender Development Centre (EGDC) making it an unusually broad recruitment cycle.

According to TVC News, available roles span critical sectors including administration, finance, trade, infrastructure, health, telecommunications, legal affairs, and security. The regional body is seeking candidates for positions ranging from office assistants and programme aides to accountants, legal officers, political advisers, and senior management roles such as directors and principal officers.

The recruitment covers vacancies across different locations, with many positions based in Abuja and others in cities such as Dakar, Conakry, Addis Ababa, and Liberia.

Also worthy of note, ECOWAS has set age limits based on job categories: 35 years for general service roles, 45 years for professional positions, and 50 years for director-level roles. Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply, while only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.

PM News reprts that the steps to apply, stating that candidates are required to submit a completed application form, a curriculum vitae, and a cover letter, all sent by email before the April 30 deadline.

The regional body stressed that the recruitment exercise is entirely free of charge and warned applicants not to make payments or provide banking details to any individual claiming to facilitate the process.
