The government of Anambra State has signed a strategic agreement with a Saudi Arabian technology company aimed at boosting innovation, research and investment in emerging technologies.
In a press statement released on Saturday, the state Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, said the agreement marked the beginning of a partnership designed to accelerate innovation-driven economic growth across Africa and the Middle East.
The state’s innovation hub, the Solution Innovation District, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Dhahran Techno Valley Holding Company during a high-level innovation engagement in Beijing.
Officials say the partnership will focus on cooperation in research, entrepreneurship and technology commercialisation.
Under the agreement, both organisations will collaborate on startup and venture acceleration programmes, particularly in sectors such as energy, sustainability and emerging technologies.
They also plan to create investment frameworks for high-potential startups and transformative technologies, while sharing expertise and best practices to support research, development and innovation.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Solution Innovation District, Chinwe Okoli, described the agreement as a significant step for the state’s technology sector.
“This collaboration represents a major milestone for Anambra State and Nigeria’s innovation ecosystem,” she said.
“By working together with our partners, we aim to support entrepreneurs, researchers and industry leaders in developing solutions that address global challenges while encouraging inclusive economic growth.”
The partnership will also include the creation of networking platforms to connect startups, investors, researchers and industry leaders. Both organisations plan to host international summits, workshops and business meetings to strengthen global technology links.
The Chief Executive Officer of Dhahran Techno Valley Holding Company, Mohammed Abusharifah, said the agreement aligns with the company’s mission of strengthening global technology partnerships.
“Our collaboration will help increase the exchange of talent, expertise and investment between the two innovation hubs,” he said.
The Solution Innovation District was established by the Anambra State government to promote entrepreneurship and technological development in the region. Meanwhile, Dhahran Techno Valley Holding Company, based in Saudi Arabia, focuses on connecting research institutions with industry to support the development and commercialisation of new technologies.
