The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress APC, led by Emeka Beke, has cautioned that members of the party in the State House of Assembly risk disciplinary action if they fail to align with the party’s position on the ongoing impeachment moves against Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The faction’s spokesperson, Darlington Nwuju, issued the warning during an interview with while shedding light on the APC national leadership’s silence over the impeachment controversy.
Nwuju explained that recent amendments to the APC constitution make it mandatory for authentic party members to obey and defend the supremacy of the party, particularly on sensitive issues such as impeachment proceedings.
He noted that although the party’s official stance has not yet been publicly announced, the national leadership has resolved that no member who seeks to undermine or destabilise an APC-controlled government in any state can be considered a loyal party member.
According to him, the delay in issuing a formal statement should not be mistaken for inaction, as the APC leadership is already taking behind-the-scenes steps to resolve the political tension currently rocking Rivers State.
