Breaking: Datti Baba-Ahmed Sides with Abure-Apapa Faction Ahead of Crucial Labour Party NEC Meeting

Ismail Abdulazeez Mantu Reporting

Datti Baba-Ahmed, the former vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has thrown his weight behind the Julius Abure and Lamidi Apapa-led faction ahead of a decisive National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting taking place today at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

Truth Live News reliably gathered that the NEC meeting is being convened to consolidate control over the party’s leadership and reaffirm the authority of the Abure-Apapa bloc, amid deepening divisions in the party’s hierarchy.

Key issues on the agenda include the possible restructuring of the party’s leadership, with particular attention on the position of national chairman, as well as constitutional clarifications aimed at resolving ongoing disputes.

The development comes in direct response to the parallel NEC meeting recently held by the Otti-Obi faction, which controversially installed Senator Nenadi Esther Usman as interim national chairperson and Senator Darlington Nwokocha as interim national secretary. That group also announced a schedule for congresses at various levels in preparation for a national convention—an action the Abure-led group has denounced as unconstitutional and lacking legitimacy.
