The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has revised the schedule of its Abuja–Kaduna rail service in preparation for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections taking place on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
The update was conveyed in a statement by the corporation’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Callistus Unyimadu, who explained that the adjustment affects only the outbound trip from Abuja.
According to the NRC, the train heading from Abuja to Kaduna will now depart at 7:30 a.m. on election day, earlier than its regular departure time.
“There will be a slight adjustment to the outbound train schedule from Abuja to Kaduna on Saturday, 21 February 2026, due to the FCT Council Elections,” the NRC said.
The change, it said, is intended to accommodate anticipated movement restrictions during the polls.
However, the return service from Kaduna to Abuja will run as usual, maintaining its scheduled 2:30 p.m. departure.
Passengers were encouraged to make necessary arrangements and arrive at the station ahead of time to avoid any disruption to their travel plans.
The corporation added that standard operations on the route will resume on Sunday and apologized for any inconvenience caused by the temporary alteration.
“Normal train services will resume on Sunday,” the statement noted.
