The Federal Government has fulfilled its promise to reward members of the Super Eagles with houses and plots of land following their performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed that players have received official certificates for the housing units and land allocated to them by President Bola Tinubu.
According to the NFF, the documents were presented to the players on Monday at the team’s camp in Fez, Morocco.
Recall that Nigeria had finished second at the AFCON tournament, which was held in Côte d’Ivoire and concluded in 2024, after losing 2–1 to the host nation in the final.
Following the team’s return to Nigeria, President Tinubu hosted the players at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he conferred the national honour of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) on each squad member.
The president also announced the allocation of a plot of land in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, as well as a housing unit for every player, in recognition of their efforts at the tournament.
The NFF said the development shows the government’s commitment to fulfilling promises made to the national team.
