Two brothers, Abba Gana Tijani, 40, and Kaka Abubakar Tijani, 35, sustained severe injuries after being attacked by suspected fulani herdsmen on their farm in Mile 90 bush, Kukawa Local Government Area, on Wednesday at about 10:30 p.m.
The victims had confronted herders attempting to graze cattle on their crops, leading to a violent escalation. “The herders, now at large, became infuriated after being stopped from grazing and brought out machetes with which they attacked the two brothers, inflicting deep cuts on their heads and right legs,” sources reported.
Troops, alongside a joint patrol team comprising the Civilian Joint Task Force and hunters, responded to the scene and documented the incident. The brothers were promptly evacuated to General Hospital, Monguno, where they are receiving treatment and responding positively.
Security agencies are working with Fulani leaders and farming communities to apprehend the fleeing suspects. “Both parties have been cautioned against reprisals as security agencies intensify surveillance to prevent escalation,” the sources added.
Efforts to restore calm and ensure justice continue in the area.
