“How Many More Must Die?” ADC Senatorial Hopeful Queries Authorities Over Edo Insecurity

BENIN CITY – The Edo South Senatorial Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon. Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, has condemned the increasing wave of killings and insecurity across Edo State, following reports of the killing of innocent residents in Ovia North-East Local Government Area in the early hours of Saturday.

In a statement made available to journalists and obtained by Truth Live News correspondent in Benin City, Iduoriyekemwen described the incident as tragic, painful, and a disturbing reflection of the worsening security situation confronting communities in the state.

“I am deeply saddened and disturbed by the tragic reports of the killing of innocent people in Ovia North-East in the early hours of today,” he stated.

The ADC senatorial candidate said it was unacceptable that citizens could no longer sleep peacefully in their communities without fear of attacks, stressing that the protection of lives and property remains the primary responsibility of government.

“This unfortunate incident is painful, condemnable, and a serious reflection of the growing insecurity confronting our people. It is unacceptable that citizens can no longer sleep peacefully in their communities without fear of attacks and violence,” he added.

Iduoriyekemwen called on security agencies and relevant authorities to launch an immediate investigation into the killings, apprehend those responsible, and strengthen security operations across Edo State to prevent further bloodshed.

Questioning the continued loss of innocent lives, he asked: “How many more lives must be lost before stronger measures are taken to secure our communities?”

He further expressed sympathy with the families of the victims and residents of Ovia North-East, urging government at all levels to take urgent and decisive action to address the growing insecurity in the state.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the affected families and the entire Ovia North-East community in this difficult moment. We must not remain silent while innocent lives continue to be lost,” the statement concluded.
