Iwobi’s Father Dismisses Robbery Rumours in London

The father of Alex Iwobi has dismissed widespread reports claiming the Super Eagles midfielder was robbed at his London residence.

Rumours circulating in Nigerian media alleged that the Fulham FC star was attacked by armed burglars who stole valuables reportedly worth £500,000, including phones, laptops, and cash. The claims suggested that authorities had begun an investigation following the incident.

However, Iwobi’s father, Chuka Iwobi, has firmly debunked the reports, describing them as completely false.

Speaking through Nigerian journalist Colin Udoh, he clarified that no such incident occurred and expressed frustration over the spread of misinformation.

“Alex is fine and there was absolutely no attempt to burgle his house. He left for Turkey this morning in preparation for the friendlies,” he said.

“It’s annoying that people spread falsehoods just for clicks. I’ve had to respond to countless calls from concerned individuals over a completely made-up story.”

Iwobi recently featured for 90 minutes in Fulham’s 3–1 victory over Burnley and is now expected to join the Nigerian national team in Antalya, Turkey, ahead of international friendly matches against Jordan and Iran.

The clarification puts an end to speculation and reassures fans that the midfielder remains safe and focused on upcoming national duties.
