Religious communities across northern Nigeria have been thrown into mourning following the reported death of Prophet Samuel Goodwin Oche, a Benue-born minister widely known by the nickname “Talk and Do.”
Oche, an indigene of Benue who ministered in Kaduna, was said to have taken his own life after an alleged 2018 video resurfaced online. The video, which reportedly showed him in an intimate encounter with another man, circulated widely on social media in recent days, sparking intense public scrutiny and debate.
Sources within his ministry described the development as deeply distressing, noting that the renewed attention surrounding the footage had placed immense emotional pressure on the cleric. While the authenticity and context of the video remain subjects of discussion, its resurgence triggered widespread reactions both within his congregation and across various online platforms.
Oche had built a reputation as a passionate preacher, earning the moniker “Talk and Do” for his emphatic sermons and calls for practical Christian living. His ministry in Kaduna attracted followers from within and beyond the state, making news of his death particularly shocking to many who regarded him as a prominent spiritual voice in the region.
