Olubadan Backs Tinubu, Says President Tackling Nigeria’s Security, Economic Challenges

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to address Nigeria’s security and economic challenges, saying the President understands the complexity of governing the country.

Oba Ladoja spoke on Friday after meeting with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, explaining that the visit was primarily to thank the President for his support since his coronation as Olubadan in September 2025.

According to the traditional ruler, he had long desired an opportunity to meet the President in Abuja following his ascension to the throne. He described the meeting as cordial and reassuring, particularly on issues affecting national development.

Reflecting on Tinubu’s leadership style, the former governor of Oyo State recalled the President’s record as Lagos State governor, noting that Tinubu successfully transformed the state’s economic fortunes during his tenure.

Oba Ladoja acknowledged that Nigeria presents far greater challenges than any single state but maintained that the President has the experience and capacity to navigate the country’s complexities.

He expressed optimism that the nation’s economy is gradually being stabilized, adding that states are now in a stronger financial position than they were in the past and are better able to meet their obligations.

“The economy is being fixed, and we hope that by 2031, when he leaves office, he will have positioned Nigeria in a way that will make all of us proud,” the monarch said.

The Olubadan stressed that President Tinubu knows what he is doing, expressing confidence that the reforms currently underway would yield positive results before the end of his tenure.
