NIGERIA, PORT HARCOURT – Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Monday inspected the ongoing construction of the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex to verify progress, according to a statement posted on his official Facebook page.
He said the visit was necessary to ensure transparency and maintain ethical standards in project delivery, noting that government must “personally assess work, not rely on second-hand reports.”
Fubara expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and confirmed that the contractor had assured him of timely completion. He stated that the chamber would be ready before December ends.

“We are pleased with the progress, and by God’s grace the chamber will be ready for use before the end of December,” the governor said in the post, stressing his focus on accountability.
He added that his administration remained committed to presenting the 2026 appropriation bill in the Main Hallowed Chamber. He explained that using the proper venue symbolizes institutional integrity and respect for democratic procedures.

Fubara also reiterated that government projects must serve the public interest. He noted that ensuring timely delivery at the Assembly Complex aligns with his administration’s ethical obligation to provide functional institutions.
He assured residents that the project team was working diligently to meet the deadline, emphasizing that “prompt delivery reflects our commitment to good governance.”
The governor’s inspection followed increasing public demand for openness in the management of state infrastructure projects.
