Nigerian Navy Denies Abandoning Its Personnel Allegedly Shot By His Commander, Says Allegation Mischievous

The Nigerian Navy has describe a viral report of one of its personnel identified as Kelvin Uchenna Aluu accusing it of various allegations as misleading and mischievous.

Aluu says he had been bedridden after he was shot by a highly-drunk Navy commander, Commodore IC Mabeokwu, and abandoned at the Nigerian Navy Medical Centre, Oghara, in Delta State.

Aluu further alleged that apart from the trauma he had gone through, his salary has also been withheld by the Navy authorities.

In his account obtained by newsmen, he narrated that his ordeal in the military was because he asked for leave to see his family in February 2022 but the commander, Mabeokwu, was not pleased with this request.

However, the Director of Information of the Nigerian Navy, Commodore, Kayode Ayo-Vaughan, revealed to truthlive.net on a phone call that, Aluu was hit by stray bullet while on an operation with the said Senior officer.

He said this was confirmed after due investigation was carried out.

The statenent reads “The complainant was never abandoned in the hospital.

“He was not denied medical care but he failed to mention that while receiving treatment as an out patient he absented himself without leave hence his salary was stopped in accordance with Service regulations”

Commodore Ayo-Vaughan further said the Navy is a formidable body with laid down rules and procedures and urged personnel to learn to channel their grievances through the proper channels as stipulated in the rule book.
