Iyanya, a well-known stage name of Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk, a Nigerian singer and songwriter, has disclosed the astounding sum he spent to create and market his most recent single.
The “Kukere” singer revealed this on Twitter while discussing the high expense of song promotion in Nigeria.
His hit single, “Like,” which featured music icons Davido and Kizz Daniel, cost him approximately N52 million to record, film, and promote.
He also revealed that, since 2021, N27 million is the least sum he has spent to promote a song.
Iyanya discloses
He went on to say that any musician who is fortunate enough to have his tune go viral without the use of paid advertising should be grateful.
In a series of tweets, he wrote,
“Promoting music has become very expensive, if you are lucky to get a song go viral make you Thank God.”
“The cheapest I have spent on a song since January 2021 is 27m.
When I dropped “LIKE” FT Davido and kizz Daniel, we spent 52 million, song, Video and promotion.
This should not discourage any up-and-coming artiste, you can do it, all you need it’s consistency.”
