The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has said it has no intention to increase the retail price of petroleum.
Rumors have been circulating about a possible increase in the price of petroleum at the pump, from the current rate of N617 per litre to between N720 and N750 in the near future.
Marketers have attributed the possibility of an increase in the price of PMS to two key factors: the depreciation of the naira against the US dollars and the rise in global oil prices.
Reacting, the NNPCL, in a statement posted via its official Twitter handle, refuted these claims, stating that it has no intention to increase its petrol pump prices, as widely speculated.
“Dear esteemed customers, we at NNPCL Retail value your patronage, and we do not have the intention to increase our PMS pump prices as widely speculated,” NNPCL stated.
The company, however, urged its customers to buy the best quality products at the most affordable prices at its retail stations nationwide.
