The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs has clarified that President Bola Tinubu has not made any official appointments of ambassadors, despite a list circulating on social media.
The Ministry has urged the public to disregard the false list, assuring that the President will transmit the legitimate list of nominees to the National Assembly for screening and confirmation when it’s ready.
The Ministry said it will keep the public informed through official channels once the list is finalized, amid heightened interest in Nigeria’s diplomatic representation following the recall of all ambassadors in September 2023.
“The appointment of ambassadors is solely the prerogative of the President, and the Ministry will make sure to inform the public through the appropriate channels once the list is ready, ” the ministry added.
