The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has commissioned a newly installed traffic light at the Third East/Sakponba Road Junction, aimed at enhancing traffic management and road safety in the state.
The inauguration is part of Obaseki’s ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and ensure seamless transportation across Edo.
During the event, Obaseki addressed civil servants, warning them of potential consequences if the opposition wins the upcoming governorship election.
“I came to appreciate and thank you from the bottom of my heart. I won’t have achieved what we achieved without you. I am finishing the first part, but the journey must not stop. It must continue; the engine of development must continue to run,” Obaseki said.
He emphasized the risks of electing inexperienced leaders, stating, “Those who want to take over power by all means are uneducated and have never worked in any better place… Any mistake you make will affect you first before others. You will be the first victim.”
PDP candidate Asue Ighodalo, present at the event, pledged to continue Obaseki’s progress and prioritize civil servants.
“Edo State public and civil service is number one in Nigeria. Obaseki has done well, and I will continue from where Obaseki would stop. You all here will be my priority; function together and continue to make Edo state a progressive state, and this shall be our focus,” Ighodalo said.
The newly installed traffic light is expected to ease traffic congestion and promote safer road conditions for commuters.
