Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has praised Liverpool’s Ryan Gravenberch, believing the Dutchman deserves more credit for his performances.
Gravenberch has impressed this season, particularly after being converted to a number six by new Liverpool boss Arne Slot.
Mikel, who played a similar role during his time at Chelsea, admires Gravenberch’s defensive contributions and driving runs forward.Â
Speaking on his podcast, Mikel said, “When I see a player doing so well, I become a huge fan.Â
“Gravenberch’s playing style, not only defending but also driving the ball forward, is fantastic.”
Mikel compared Gravenberch to Manchester City’s Rodri, emphasizing that players in their position often go unappreciated.Â
He noted, “We never get the credit.”Â
