Seun Kuti, Afrobeats Singer and son of late music legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, spent the night in police custody. The Afrobeat musician, who brought himself up yesterday, was jailed because police were unable to complete their investigation into assault claims leveled against him.
Seun was transferred from the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters in Ikeja to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Yaba, where he was grilled all night. He was subsequently transferred to a cell, where he spent the night. According to police sources, he could be arraigned in court today, depending on the outcome of his interview.
Recall that the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali, ordered the immediate arrest of Seun, when a video of him assaulting a police officer on uniform, emerged online.
