Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has set up a 25-man Pension Funds Management Committee to address issues surrounding non-remittance of contributory pension funds and other irregularities.

The committee is headed by Mrs. Arinola Adetayo and Mr. Olufisan Osiyale and comprises representatives from the Bureau of State Pensions and the Bureau of Local Government Pensions.

The committee is responsible for providing professional and administrative advice on the operations of the Contributory Pension Scheme and ensuring timely remittance of employer and employee contributions.

“Dear members of the State Pension Management Committees, the task before you is enormous yet noble, as you are the custodians of the hopes and futures of thousands of hardworking public servants, both at the state and local levels,” Abiodun said.

“Workers who have laboured for the state deserve peace of mind in retirement,” he added.

The governor thanked labour leaders for calling off the workers’ week-long strike, stating that the move demonstrates their patriotism and belief in dialogue.

Mr. Olufisan Osiyale, the chairman of the Local Government Pensions Committee, thanked the governor for his trust and assured that the committee would fulfill its mandate with the cooperation of all stakeholders.
