In a letter addressed to the Ward Chairman of APC, Uhunmwode ward 2, Daniel A. Noah Osa-Ogbegie, Esq., a distinguished legal practitioner, announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) on May 3rd, 2024.
As a staunch advocate for the advancement of Edo State, Osa-Ogbegie expressed his commitment to an Edo renaissance led by competent and visionary leadership originating from within the state. However, he voiced his lack of confidence in the APC’s gubernatorial candidate for the upcoming election, citing concerns over the candidate’s ability to steer the state in the desired direction.
In an exclusive interview Truth Live News, Osa-Ogbegie lamented the party’s choice of Senator Monday Okpebholo and Representative Dennis Idahosa as its gubernatorial ticket, labeling it as “dour.” He interpreted this decision as a sign of the party’s lack of seriousness in either the election or in presenting credible governance options to the people of Edo State.
The legal luminary is a well known TV political analyst and a stunt loyalist to Pastor Ize-Iyamu , the 2020 gubernatorial candidate of APC Edo state. He moved to the APC in 2019 from the PDP alongside Pastor Ize-Iyanu.
The legal luminary, known for his integrity, explained that resigning from the party was a matter of conscience. He deemed it inappropriate to remain within the party and work against its chosen candidate. Instead, he chose to step down from his membership, unwilling to compromise his principles by campaigning for individuals he does not believe in.
In his letter, Osa-Ogbegie extended his regards to the party, signaling his departure from APC with a sense of duty to his conscience and respect for the ideals he upholds.
This move by such a respected figure may spark a domino effect about the deep-seated concerns within the APC regarding its leadership choices and governance direction, leaving questions about the party’s ability to inspire confidence among its members and constituents in the forthcoming election.
