Former Nigerian goalkeeper Dosu Joseph has narrowly escaped death for the second time in his life after a heavy-duty truck rammed into his SUV at a filling station in Kara, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The 51-year-old Olympic gold medalist shared his harrowing experience on social media, expressing gratitude to God for sparing his life. The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, around 6 p.m. when Dosu and his friend stopped to refuel at Enyo Filling Station.

“I was involved in a terrible accident… A MACK truck fully loaded with iron crushed my car beyond repairs,” Dosu revealed.

This miraculous escape comes 27 years after a devastating car accident in 1997 ended his promising football career at just 23. The crash left him with severe spinal cord injuries and forced him into early retirement.

Dosu, who helped Nigeria win Olympic gold in 1996 and won the Nigeria FA Cup with Julius Berger in 1997, reported the incident to the Isheri Police Station in Ogun State. The truck driver is currently in custody, and the vehicle has been seized.

In a shocking twist, the truck owner has refused to repair or replace Dosu’s damaged SUV, claiming it won’t be possible for a year.
