The First Lady of Osun State, Chief Mrs. Titilola Adeleke, has paid a heartfelt tribute to Nigeria’s Armed Forces, recognizing their sacrifices and bravery in protecting the nation. This comes as Nigerians observe Armed Forces Remembrance Day, a day set aside to honor soldiers who have served, those still in active duty, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

In her statement made available to Truth Live News and other reputable media houses, Mrs. Adeleke emphasized the enduring debt owed to the fallen heroes and the valor of those who continue to serve. “To the fallen, we owe an eternal debt. Your sacrifice is a solemn reminder that the freedoms we enjoy were bought with courage and paid for with lives. You gave everything to ensure our safety, our sovereignty, and our hope for a better tomorrow,” she said.

The Osun State First Lady highlighted the resilience and commitment of living service members, whose efforts remain a source of pride and inspiration for the country. “To the living, your unwavering commitment to protecting our nation fills us with pride. You wake up every day ready to confront challenges that many of us cannot dare. Your bravery, discipline, and patriotism inspire us all,” she noted.

She further called on Nigerians to support the Armed Forces, particularly by standing united in providing care for the families of servicemen and women. “As a state, a nation, and as a people, we must stand united in our support for our Armed Forces. We must care for their families, uphold their honor, and strive to build the peaceful and prosperous Nigeria they have fought so valiantly to defend,” Mrs. Adeleke stated.

Reflecting on the significance of the day, the First Lady urged citizens never to forget the sacrifices made by the country’s military personnel, adding that their courage should serve as a guiding light for national unity and progress.

“May we never forget their sacrifices. May their courage continue to light our path toward unity and progress. We salute you, our heroes!” she concluded.

The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is observed annually on January 15 to honor military personnel who served and continue to serve in Nigeria’s Armed Forces. It also serves as a moment to reflect on the contributions of the military to the peace, unity, and sovereignty of the nation.
