The PDP Governors’ Forum, led by Chairman Governor Bala Mohammed, recently held a critical meeting at the Oyo State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja. The gathering, attended by prominent figures from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), addressed pressing concerns that have captured national attention.
A major focus of the meeting was the recent Supreme Court verdict concerning the 2023 Presidential Election. The Forum acknowledged the importance of bringing an end to the election cycle and expressed its faith in the judiciary’s ability to dispense justice in political and legal matters.
The Forum did, however, express concerns over the apparent inconsistency in the application of precedents, particularly in the disqualification of PDP candidates in Plateau State. They urged the apex judiciary to ensure the integrity of jurisprudence and remain steadfast in upholding democracy and good governance.
In its commitment to revitalizing the PDP as a robust opposition party, the Forum vowed to reposition the party to effectively represent the interests of the Nigerian people in matters of democracy, good governance, and accountability.
The Forum also took note of the recent developments in Rivers State and welcomed the intervention of the President, urging all parties involved in the crises to seek peaceful resolutions. The Forum even offered its platform for a just and swift resolution of the issues in Rivers State.
Addressing national economic concerns, the meeting called upon the Federal Government to intervene urgently in stabilizing the Naira, controlling inflation, addressing unemployment, and offering more support to the Nigerian populace.
Governor Seyi Makinde, the host of the meeting, was congratulated for his warm hospitality.
Notable attendees included Governors Bala Mohammed, Siminalayi Fubara, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Sheriff Oborevwori, Ifeanyi Ossai, Ademola Adeleke, Caleb Mutfwang, Godwin Obaseki, Kefas Agbu, and Dauda Lawal. The meeting was chaired by Senator Bala Mohammed, who currently leads the PDP Governors’ Forum.
