In a show of solidarity and compassion, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has expressed its condolences to the Government and people of Plateau State following the Christmas eve attacks and recent security breaches in Bokkos, Mangu, and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas.
Led by Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, the Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Bauchi State, a delegation visited the New Government House in Little Rayfield, Jos, to convey their sympathies and offer support.
Senator Mohammed conveyed the Forum’s heartfelt condolences to Governor Caleb Mutfwang and the survivors of the attacks. He described the crisis as unfortunate and urged Governor Mutfwang and the people of Plateau to remain focused in the face of these challenges. Additionally, Sen. Mohammed advocated for the establishment of State Police as a proactive measure to address the prevailing security challenges in the region.
“We, representing the PDP Governors Forum, extend our heartfelt condolences to you and the people of Plateau. The crisis is unfortunate, and we urge you to remain focused amidst these challenges,” Sen. Mohammed remarked during the visit.
Acknowledging Plateau’s diverse population and its role as a home for everyone, Senator Mohammed emphasized the necessity of implementing state-specific security measures. He appealed to the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify efforts in tackling the nation’s security challenges comprehensively.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang, in response, expressed gratitude for the support extended by the PDP Governors’ Forum. He committed to fostering unity across faith and ethnicity on the Plateau and stressed the importance of rebuilding trust among communities to effectively address criminal activities.
“As governor, I believe in the unity of our people. If we rebuild trust and treat criminality uniformly, we can overcome these challenges,” Governor Mutfwang stated. He affirmed the significance of the PDP in Plateau and across Nigeria, pledging to continue delivering democratic dividends to the people.
The visit was not only symbolic but also practical, as the PDP Governors’ Forum contributed N100 Million to aid the survivors of the attacks. Among the Governors who joined Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed in expressing solidarity were Senator Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, and Mr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State.The Director General of the PDP Forum, Hon CID Maduabum, LL.M, also participated in the delegation, reflecting the collective commitment of the PDP Governors’ Forum to addressing the security challenges facing Plateau State and the nation at large.
