Former Senator Representing Delta North, Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi, has died at the age of 68.

The death of the former lawmaker was confirmed on Tuesday, though details surrounding the circumstances of his passing have not yet been made public.

Nwaoboshi, a prominent indigene of Delta State, was widely regarded as a strong and vocal advocate for the Anioma cause and a committed champion of development in the Niger Delta region. During his time in the National Assembly, he served as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs, where he played a key role in advancing issues affecting oil-producing communities and regional development.

His political career also spanned party leadership, having served twice as Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State. Colleagues and associates have described the late senator as a courageous, loyal and dedicated leader whose life was defined by public service, commitment to democratic ideals and devotion to the welfare of his people.

Tributes have continued to pour in following his death, with many acknowledging his contributions to nation-building and his enduring legacy in Delta State and beyond.
