PHOTOS: Udom Commissions Leprosy Hospital Road, Hints At Change Of Name

The Akwa Ibom state government says the name of the Ekpene Obom Leprosy Hospital will be changed when the ongoing renovation work is completed.

Governor Udom Emmanuel, gave the hint when he Commissioned the 3.5Km Afaha Iman-Leprosy Hospital road in Etinan LGA, south south region of Nigeria.

Recalling that the Ekpene Obom Leprosy Hospital which was established by the Qua Iboe Church in 1927, being among the first generation mission hospitals in the state. Emmanuel said It won’t be called Leprosy Hospital again. It will be given it a better name.

“If you go to that hospital, you’ll see a lot of renovation works going on there. We are trying to change the face of that hospital. When we finish everything we are trying to do with that hospital, we will change the name.”He said.

Emmanuel was reported to have said that the reason he is concentrating on commissioning community rural roads within this period is to show the world that he has kept his promise and to tell them thank you through projects commissioning.

A report by the government house media unit Uyo said that the Commissioner for Works & Fire Service, Prof. Eno Ibanga said the road has been built to meet international specifications, with two drains on both sides and a special feature of 0.715km outfall drain.
