The Azikiwe Police Division, Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has arrested a covetous landlord, one Alabo for inflicting his female tenant and her husband several machete cuts at Ekwulobia Street, Mile 3 Diobu, on May 15, 2022, because she allegedly turned down his love advances.
The landlord, who had been on the run after the incident, was arrested on Sunday, by the police following several months of trailing.
The female tenant, Mrs. Comfort Nwagadi, confirmed the arrest of the suspect. Mrs. Nwagadi recalled that the suspect, Alabo, on that fateful day, had ambushed her and immediately entered the compound and unleashed an attack on her. She said Alabo attacked her with a machete, cutting her on the head and fingers.
She said the landlord also attacked her husband, who came to her rescue, and gave him several machete cuts before he fled that particular night. The woman further explained that Alabo started targeting her after she turned down his alleged love advance.
Mrs. Nwagadi, who is asking for justice on the matter, sustained machete cuts on the head, hands and fingers, while the husband had cuts on the head and hand.
Two different fingers of Mrs. Nwagadi and that of her husband are no longer functioning as a result of the machete cuts.
The case file was transferred from Azikiwe Police Division to the State Criminal Investigation And Intelligence Department (SCIID) on the directive of the Commissioner of Police at the time.
The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command was yet to confirm the arrest at the time of filing this report.
