Police Parade Five Persons For Defrauding 21-Year-Old AAU Student Of N9.8m In Edo

Edo State Police Command has paraded five persons for allegedly defrauding a 21 year old student of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, of the sum of N9. 8 million.

 

The leader of the five man gang Lucky Victor who specializes in hypnotizing innocent citizens with the intent of defrauding them, narrated how they hypnotized the 21 years old student, stole her phone and withdrew the said money from her account.

He said said the police was able to track the phone that led to their arrest.

Lucky who admitted that they only saw a little above N4 million in the girl’s account, said his own share of N1. 3 million was used to buy a car.

On the part of the under graduate student of AAU, who simply gave her name as Lydia, (other name witwithheldshe said she was approached by one of them to help him with the description of how he could get to a place which she said she didn’t know and that while she was busy with that, one of them hits her with his body and which made her to lost her senses of reasonings.

According to her “I went to the market and when I was through buying things, I was going home and at the corner of one of the Banks, I saw one of these guys, they were asking me for direction so I told them that I don’t know the place.

“As I was going, the guy pulled me back and was begging me that I should tell them, I said I don’t know the place, and as I was going again, the guy pulled me back.

“That was when his second was coming, so the guy just used his body to hit me.

“That was how I just forgot myself. I followed them to the motor.

“As they hit me, I didn’t know what was happening again.

“The only thing I could remember was that, they were talking of, they want to sell something and that they will give me N20,000 but I could not really remember. I just followed them to their car.

“They collected N9. 8 million. It was two accounts. One of the accounts , the Union Account was about N3million while the Zenith Account, was N6. 8million”, she said.

When asked how did she get such a huge sum of money in her account, she said it was a proceed from the sales of her late father’s property.

She said the father’s property was sold and the mother decided to put the money in her accounts for the family’s upkeeps and for the pursuit of her education and that of her other siblings.

She said the incident happened at Ekpoma Market in Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State on May 20th, 2023.

However, the Edo State Police Command, through its Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, said the suspects would be charged to court upon the completion of their Investigations.
