Just In: ADC Sets Stage for National Convention, Unveils High-Powered Planning Committee

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has formally approved the nomination of key political figures and stakeholders to serve on its Convention Planning Committee ahead of the party’s much-anticipated National Convention scheduled for Tuesday, April 14, 2026.

In a special announcement released by the party’s leadership, the ADC confirmed that the committee will oversee the coordination and execution of all activities related to the convention, signaling the party’s readiness to consolidate its structure and strategy in the evolving political landscape.

Leading the high-profile committee is former Cross River State Governor, Liyel Imoke, who will serve as Chairman. He is supported by Aminu Tambuwal as Deputy Chairman, while Dr. Ajuji Ahmed takes on the role of Secretary. The committee comprises a blend of experienced politicians, technocrats, and party loyalists drawn from across the country.

According to the statement, an inaugural meeting of all committees has been scheduled for Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. The meeting will take place at the ADC National Secretariat in Abuja and will be chaired by Senator Imoke.

Party insiders say the composition of the committee reflects a deliberate attempt to balance experience with inclusivity, as the ADC positions itself as a formidable alternative in Nigeria’s political space. The inclusion of sub-committees—covering media, accreditation, protocol, and welfare—underscores the party’s commitment to a well-organized and impactful convention.
