Prominent Kano political figure Salihu Tanko Yakasai has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Yakasai, a well-known political voice in Kano State, announced his defection after what he described as “extensive consultations” with family members, friends, and long-time political associates.
“Following extensive consultations with family, friends, and political associates we have worked closely with over time, we have resolved to move to the ADC as part of a new direction,” he stated.
The former APC stalwart confirmed that he has formally tendered his resignation from the ruling party and has already completed his registration with the ADC, signaling a decisive shift in political allegiance.
“I have accordingly tendered my resignation from the APC and completed my registration with our new party, the ADC,” Yakasai added.
In a move that underscores his early commitment to strengthening the ADC’s grassroots base, Yakasai encouraged interested Nigerians to join the party through its digital registration platform.
“Those who are interested in joining the ADC can conveniently register using their phones via this link: adcregistration.ng. Your membership card will be issued shortly after.”
He concluded his statement with a prayer, expressing optimism about the party’s future and its potential to reshape Nigeria’s political landscape.
“We pray that Allah, in His mercy, makes this decision a good one, grants the ADC the opportunity to form government at all levels, and make it beneficial for all Nigerians. Ameen.”
