Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has approved the deployment of 65 ambassadors and high commissioners to various countries and international organisations following their confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.

The list, which includes 31 career and 34 non-career ambassadors, was released on Friday by the presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga. According to the statement, the postings cover Nigerian diplomatic missions across different countries as well as representation at the United Nations.

Among the prominent appointments, former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mahmud Yakubu, was posted to Qatar, while former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, was assigned to Germany. Former presidential aide Reno Omokri was posted to Mexico.

Also on the list, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim was appointed as Nigeria’s representative to the United Nations. Former Chief of Army Staff and ex-Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau, was posted to China, while former Abia State governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, was named Nigeria’s ambassador to Spain.

The ambassadors-designate were earlier confirmed by the Senate in December 2025 after screening. The latest postings are expected to strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic representation and bilateral relations with host countries.

Officials said the envoys will assume duties in their respective missions after completing the necessary diplomatic and administrative processes.
