Plateau Governor Reacts as Yilwatda Emerges APC National Chairman

Governor Caleb Mutfwang has congratulated Nentawe Yilwatda on his successful screening and return as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), alongside other members of the party’s National Working Committee.

In a statement issued by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, the governor described Yilwatda’s emergence through a consensus arrangement as a reflection of the party’s commitment to inclusive and people-focused leadership, particularly ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Mutfwang praised party leaders and stakeholders for promoting unity, tolerance, and internal reforms, noting that such efforts have strengthened cohesion within the APC and created a fair environment for members to pursue their ambitions.

He also acknowledged Yilwatda’s leadership since his earlier unanimous adoption in June 2025, highlighting initiatives such as reconciliation among party members, the introduction of e-registration for membership, and broader efforts to reposition the party for future electoral success.

Expressing confidence in his leadership capacity, the governor pointed to Yilwatda’s background in digital transformation, energy research, and ICT, as well as his experience as a Resident Electoral Commissioner, as key strengths.

Mutfwang further appreciated the role of top national figures, including Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Kashim Shettima, Godswill Akpabio, and Tajudeen Abbas, for zoning the party’s national chairmanship to the North Central region.

He added that Plateau State has competent individuals with strong records in public service and expressed optimism that Yilwatda would promote unity, peace, and progressive leadership within the party.

“On behalf of the government and peace-loving people of Plateau State, Governor Mutfwang congratulates Prof. Goshwe… and prays for God’s guidance, strength, good health and wisdom as he assumes this leadership role,” the statement read.
