President Bola Tinubu has commended the Super Eagles for their performance in the recently concluded 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) held in Côte d’Ivoire.
Despite losing 2-1 to Côte d’Ivoire in the final match of the tournament on Sunday night, Tinubu emphasized the importance of unity and resilience in the face of setbacks.
In a statement delivered through his spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu urged Nigerians not to be disheartened by the outcome but to use it as motivation to work even harder.
He reassured the nation of his administration’s commitment to fulfilling the aspirations of millions of Nigerians, emphasizing the importance of collective effort in achieving national goals.
“Let this passing event not dispirit us, but bring us together to work harder. We are a great nation bound as one by the green-white-green banner of resilience, joy, hope, duty, and untiring love,” he said.
“To those cherished Nigerian youths expressing their gifts in communities, drawing lines in the sand as they play football in their humble rectangles of play, you can be our heroes tomorrow, do not relent in your pursuit.
“My administration is here to make dreams come true.”
