Presidential Tribunal Admits Documents Alleging Tinubu’s Drug Offences

The Presidential Election Petition Court in Abuja on Tuesday admitted documents in evidence accusing President Bola Tinubu of drug offences in the United States.

 

The five-member panel of the court led by Haruna Tsammani accepted the documents as exhibits in the case filed by Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate, Challenging Tinubu’s Victory and his ineligiblity to contest in the election.

 

Though, Mr Tinubu was sworn in as Nigeria’s president on Monday, but the cases challenging his Victory will not be decided until September.

 

When the suit came up on Tuesday, Jibrin Okutepa, Obi’s Lawyer and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, presented some court documents that purported to be the US court’s decision ordering a $460,000 fine against Mr. Tinubu for an offense involving dishonesty, specifically drug trafficking, imposed by the United States District Court, Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division.

 

The United States of America and Mr. Tinubu were parties to the lawsuit Mark 93C 4483.
