Obot Akara Women Join MWAN To Enlighten Women On Prevalence Of Cancer In A’Ibom

The Women of Obot Akara in collaboration with the Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN) Akwa Ibom State Chapter, have enlightened women on the Prevalence of Cancer in the country.

It is the first time since Hon. Anietie Ibritam Akpan, assumed office as the transition Chairman of Obot Akara Local Government Council two months ago.

The women on Friday gathered at the Local Government Council Hall, Nto Edino, to carry out Campaign on “The Prevalence of Cancer Awareness for Women.”

For instance, the wife of the Council Chairman, Mrs. Helen Anietie Ibritam expressed gratitude for the support and prayers of the women.

She emphasized the need for peace within their families and communities.

Moreover, the gathering highlighted comprehensive goal-setting for the entire Local Government Area.

Mrs. Ibritam added that it also aimed at sensitising the community on cancer awareness and strategising for the year ahead.

Meanwhile, the wife of the Hon Commissioner for Youth Development/Sports, Lady Blessing Ebonguko, harped on unity, love, and empowerment among women.

In addition, she highlighted the significance of health education and awareness, urging the women to be steadfast and always pray for the government to succeed.

Furthermore, Lady Ebonguko promised more collaboration with the council and other relevant organisations for more life-touching programs for women.

During the enlightenment campaign, President-Elect, of the Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN) AKS Chapter, Dr Mfon Udo, taught women causes, how to detect the cancer symptoms, and seek medical care early.

On the other hand, the transition Chairman Hon. Anietie Ibritam Akpan expressed gratitude to the women of Obot Akara for their unwavering support.

Hon Akpan pledged to prioritise programs aimed at the development of women within the community.

Also, he appreciated Governor Pastor Umo Bassey Eno and Sir Monday Uko, for trusting the youth to steer local government affairs.

Accordingly, with the unwavering support from women to their leaders and the dedication to vital health initiatives,”I will diligently fulfil your expectations,” he said.

The women of Obot Akara in the Akwa Ibom Northwest Senatorial District exemplified the spirit of proactive citizenship.

Thus, they engaged in shaping a brighter future for their Local Government Area.
