Barrister Anselm Ojezua has taken legal action against Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over primary.
This followed the recent concluded Peoples Democratic Party’s gubernatorial primary election held in Edo State, south south Nigeria.
Truth Live News gathered that Ojezua filed a case at the Federal High Court, Abuja, seeking to prevent INEC and PDP from recognizing Ighodalo as the party’s candidate.
The suit with number THC/ABJCS/304Q, involved Ojezua as the plaintiff, and Ighodalo, the PDP, and INEC as the defendants.
The suit cited various legal provisions, including sections of the Electoral Act, INEC’s regulations and guidelines.
Also cited are the PDP’s constitution and guidelines, as well as court procedures and the Nigeria’s constitution.
On the other hand, Ojezua, a former APC chairman in Edo State, contests the legitimacy of Ighodalo’s candidacy.
For instance, the PDP’s February 22, gubernatorial primary in Benin City resulted in two conflicting candidates.
The two candidates were the Edo State Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu and investment banker Asue Ighodalo.
As a result, Ojezua aligned with the Deputy Governor Shaibu.
The duo are among the nine disgruntled aspirants challenging the conduct of the PDP’s ad-hoc congresses, primary election, and the nomination of Ighodalo.
