Properties worth millions of naira were said to have been destroyed as fire gutted a building in Afowa, Uzairue in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.
The incident was said to have happened around 1:30 am.
According to the owner of the house, Mr Pius Itabalumhe, the fire incident began when the house beside Sacta Maria Hospital in Afowa, closed to his got engulfed by fire.
He narrated that his friend ran to call him, only for him to come outside and find out that one of his shops was on fire.
His words “All efforts to put off the raging fire proved abortive as the house burnt down completely”, stressing that nothing was rescued because they were helpless in such a situation.
