The 2022 FIFA world cup in Qatar which gets underway on in a matter of house, November 20th to be precise, has been dubbed the most controversial, but it might turn out also to be the most unpredictable and memorable.
After the 2002 edition which was won by Brazil, European teams have emerged champions with the coveted trophy shared among Italy, Spain, Germany, and France but expectations are high in Argentina and Brazil that it is time for one of the two south American giants to win it.
Let’s look at three possible winners of this year’s world cup in Qatar.
First will be Brazil, a potential winner of every world cup they have attended, yet every world cup since they last conquered the world in 2002, they have fallen flat.
Three quarterfinals exit in 2006, 2010 and 2018, and one semifinal on home soil in 2014, losing 1-7 to eventual winners Germany is enough pain for the South American powerhouse to return to winning ways in the Middle East.
Ranked number (1)in the world by FIFA, football pundits believe it is time for the most successful country in world cup history to claim its sixth title in Qatar.
Brazil’s hopes of securing its first world cup in 20 years rely on how coach Tite who took over in 2016 and change the team midway through the qualifiers plots his strategies and mould a team into a coherent unit to overcome teams like Argentina, Belgium, France, Germany etc at some stage remain to be seen, but they can aspire to end two decades of European dominance in Qatar.
The team is blessed with some of the best in the world and could produce the top scorer in Qatar as Neymar can lead the Selacao to achieve their dreams. They have what it takes to dominate group G where Serbia, Switzerland and Cameroon will compete.
His exploits with PSG can not be ignored though Brazil have many options that can hold their own as well, they include Real Madrid stars Vinicius jr, Eder Militao, Rodrygo, Gabriel Jesus of Arsenal,  Raphinha of Barcelona, Manchester United Antony, Manchester city Ederson, Chelsea  Thiago Silva and many more to chose from, but they should create plenty of opportunities.
Based on their current ranking and arrays of stars who Ply their trades in some of the best leagues across the globe, one could easily assert that it is time for Brazil to rule the world again.
Another potential winners of the 2022 world cup in Qatar are Argentina.
The la Aibeceleste are internationally invincibles with arguably the best player on planet earth, Lionel Messi on his last world cup trip.
Argentina who last won the world cup in 1986 in Mexico, are 35 games unbeaten because of coach Lionel Scaloni’s tactical input and the team has a lot of quality players across the pitch with the likes of Lautaro Martinez, that can rule the world in Qatar.
Ranked number (3) in the world, Argentina controlled European cup champions Italy for ninety minutes during the Finalissima in England this year but got the better of Brazil in their recent meetings most notably during the Copa America cup final, and these are evidence that Argentina will flourish in Qatar.
Scaloni has got the team working as a unit and Lionel Messi is in good form alongside other stars like Franco Armani of River plate, Juventus forward Angel  Di Maria ,  Lisandro Martinez of Manchester United, who can pose a threat to any team in Qatar.
Messi is set to lead the Argentinian attack as the team can terrorise any defence in Qatar, with the likes of Lautaro Martinez, Di Maria playing wide, and the midfield strong enough with a mix of experience and youth, such as Rodrigo, Leandro Paredes, Â Enzo Fernandez and Alexis Mac Allister.
Based on current form, Argentina can make it to the final of the tournament and possibly win it after 36 years, but the journey has to begin with their qualification from Group C where they have to battle Saudi Arabia, Poland and Mexico.
The third team that may win the world cup taking place in Qatar is Belgium, known as the Red Devils, they remain one of the dark horses in the race to win this year’s world cup, though they have relinquished their number one spot in the FIFA Ranking.
The third-place winners in Russia 2018,  are sitting in the number two position in the world football ranking as of today, after losing the number one spot they occupy for about three years to  Brazil.
Belgium have made 13 appearances at the world cup, but have yet to lift the coveted trophy, with the third-place finish in Russia back in 2018 being their best-ever performance.
But the golden generation of the Red Devils will have one more shot at the world cup in Qatar, the likes of Thibaut Courtois one of the world’s best Goalkeepers, Man City`s De  Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku, and out of favour Real Madrid forward, Captain Eden Hazard can still prove a point at the world stage.
Paired in Group F alongside Morocco, Canada and 2018 finalists Croatia, Â Belgium can go through this stage to the round of 16, and from there, anything can happen.
The team still has the strength given the option available to a world-class manager in Roberto Martinez. with the likes of fresh attacking talents in Charles De Ketelaere of A C Milan, Jeremy Doku of Rennes, Dries Mertens of Galatasaray and Romelu Lukaku of Inter Milan, opposing defenders will have a lot of work to do in Qatar.
The front line is backed by Meunier, Witsel, Tielemans and experienced Carrasco in the middle while Manchester City De Bruyne will take the free role. No doubt with this plethora of talents  Belgium remain a force and one European team that may shock the world in Qatar, as they have sharpened in transition. The Roberto Martinez side still has the core of the golden generation that almost reached the final of the world cup in Russia in 2018.
