Ghana Black Stars on Monday at the Education city stadium in Qatar proved their superiority over Asia powerhouse South Korea in a five-goal thriller as they won the crunch tie 3-2 to further brighten their chance to reach the knockout round in the ongoing World Cup in Qatar.

Ghana were two goals up before the break after Southampton Fc defender Mohammed Salisu netted the first goal in the 24th minute and Ajax forward  Mohammed kudus made it 2-0 in the 34th minute against a spirited Korea Republic side who almost spoil the fun for the Black stars, as they scored twice in three minutes after the  Ghanaians lost concentration to allow the South Koreans back into the game as Cho Gue- Sung brace 58th and 61st  minutes level scores at 2-2.

However, Ghana who have never lost a second group game at the world cup fought hard to get the third goal of the day through Mohamed kudus in the 68th minute to seal victory for the west Africans who are now one leg in the second round of the tournament.

With the victory, Ghana are placed second in Group H standing with three points behind Portugal who lead the pack with six points and are through to the round of 16 following their emphatic 2-0 win over Uruguay,  while South Korea is in third place with one point same with Uruguay who are bottom in the group.

South Korea coach Paulo Bento was handed a red card after a heated exchange with English Referee Anthony Taylor, the South Korean Portuguese gaffer was not happy when his side won a corner kick at the end of the  10 minutes of stoppage time but the center referee blew his whistle to end the encounter before the corner kick could be taken.

As Ghana face Uruguay in their final group game on Friday this week for a place in the knockout phase, the memory of the 2010 world cup in South Africa between both countries comes to mind.

Ghana will however go for the kill and not repeat the mistakes of 2010 against the South American knowing fully well that a win will see them through.

Should Ghana pick all three points against Uruguay, Portugal who are already through to the second round will need a draw against South Korea to give them a top place with seven points.

Elsewhere, Cameroon had to come back from 1-3 to level scores at 3-3 against Serbia in a group G encounter on Monday at the Al Janoub stadium, it was Cameroon’s ninth game in a row without a win, they will face an uphill task in their final group game against Brazil as the team is unlikely to reach the round of 16.

The result means Cameroon and Serbia will be needing a win in the final group games to stand a chance to go to the second round of the tournament. Nothing is impossible in football as Cameroon take on Brazil, while Switzerland and Serbia will lock horns in a game that will be played the time with others.

Of all the African teams in Qatar for the world cup, Morocco, Senegal, and Ghana are likely to qualify for the round of 16.

For these three teams showing so far, the boys can have a drink but the party should be delayed.
