The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State council, Dr Festus Alenkhe has been presented with a leadership Award by the Radio Television, Theatre And Arts Workers Union of Nigeria, (RATAWU), Edo state Chapter.
The Award ceremony is part of activities to mark World Television Day.
Speaking at the event, a former chairman of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union of Nigeria, Edo state, Comrade Robert Erhauyi said the world Televisión day is marked all over the globe to acknowledge the contribution of Televisión to societal development.
He commended all Television workers in Edo state, Nigeria and the world as a whole for their efforts in keeping the people informed and educated.
On his part, Edo state chairman of RATAWU, Comrade Ralpheal Ojeikere described Dr Festus Alenkhe as a man of high integrity that is currently playing a pivotal role in moving the Edo state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists forward.
He said the leadership acumen of Dr Festus Alenkhe is worth emulating and urged him not to relent.
The District Governor of Lions Club, Engineer Osadebamwen Okoro who presented the Award commended Dr Festus Alenkhe for his positive exploits in the journalism profession.
Responding, the chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo state council, Dr Festus Alenkhe appreciated RATAWU for the honour done him as he pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him.
He said despite the advent of the new media, a lot of people still rely on the the television to check fake news and unfounded reports.
The theme for this year’s World Television Day is “Television, Connecting The world”.
The event was attended by a cross session of Journalists and Broadcasters drawn from within and outside Edo state.
